Cooking with Cox TV Connect

As a child I watched my grandmother create culinary delights in a kitchen too small for her talents, but then that was the 70s, kitchens were purposeful, small and held little resemblance to the kitchen’s of today.  The TV, a large wooden monster that rested on the family room floor, was a beacon in the house, with an expanse of space in front of it that allowed you to sprawl on the floor and become engrossed in the programme airing…..and so formed the memory of her watching Julia Child cook in her expansive kitchen,  inspiring my grandmother to create dishes that were far beyond my wildest dreams.  By the time I started to enjoy cooking, TVs had moved into the kitchen, often small boxes perched on the counter whispering news and daytime dramas while I flirted with my oven.  A few short years later, when we remodel our first home, the kitchen became the largest room in the house, with an equally large TV resting on the wall, it was there that I would sit with my coffee, and fall in love with Nigella Lawson, and in turn the joys of cooking. Just as my kitchen evolved, so too did my relationship with the kitchen TV and inevitably cooking shows, making it little wonder that my daughter has grown up loving cooking shows, cooking and being in the kitchen.

She is part of a new generation of little chefs, where ‘apps’, downloads, podcasts and streaming are all common place…technology is her life, so it is no wonder that her latest hobby is sitting at the kitchen table, apron tied and iPad on streaming live TV cooking shows  on the new Cox TV Connect while she creates her own culinary masterpiece.  The free app allows you to watch live TV anywhere in the house, and for her that means she can sit at the kitchen table and be part of the cooking show, cooking right along side some of her favourite foodies.

Fancy hosting your own kitchen table cooking class?  It could not be easier with the new Cox TV Connect application:

  1. Download the Cox TV Connect App from the iTunes store (full details are available on the information page of the Application).
  2. Open the Application and enter your username and password.
  3. Once the Applications launches, you will see a programming guide with more than 30 national channels and a display of the show currently on air and scheduled programming. The HD image can be viewed in landscape or portrait, making TV watching a delight regardless of where you are in the house.
