As a college student I practically lived at the campus smoothie bar, there was something so refreshing about an ice cold fruit smoothie that kick started my morning after the night before. While my college days are long behind me, the memory of how refreshing those smoothies were, and how invigorating they made me feel when my body so desperately needed a detox, still present themselves every time I have a hangover (gasp horror, I do occasionally have these) or a cold.
With Spring in full force in Arizona, our days are getting warmer and the cold season continues to linger on like an clingy house guest you simply cannot get rid. Lately our days are filled with the sound of blender blades going strong, and little chef’s chopping fruit and selecting ingredients for their dream smoothie…..And our Friday nights are filled with the same sound, only with the added glug-glug of the Vodka splashing around as we mix a grown-up version fitting for a Friday night cocktail.
There are so many ways to make a smoothie, and luckily it is rather hard to get it wrong if you go with what you love. The core ingredients in our kitchen include 100% Florida Orange Juice, yogurt, fresh fruit, frozen fruit (either our homemade frozen batches or those bought in the shops) and ice. Measurements, quantities, ingredients can go out the window when you make smoothies because the best part about making them, is having plenty left over for a second glass, or to freeze and make into a smoothie Popsicle or smoothie cubes that can be added to Tonic Water.
Continue to keep your immune system going strong this cold and flu season by mixing up a Spring Smoothie made with 100% Florida Orange Juice . Our go-to smoothie is filled with seasonal Spring fruits, and according to my daughter Margeaux, it is rather fabulous.
